The professional education provided at American Chimney & Masonry is very extensive similarly compared to other certifications. We have this in place to recognize the education of other investigators and inspectors. Above all, our fireplace certification uses codes and scenarios from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 211) and also the National Chimney Sweep Guild.

CCFC Certification

Our certification is the Certified Chimney & Fireplace Contractor (CCFC). Our technicians take a 6-month training course. This includes OSHA standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 211) codes, and chimney and fireplace code standards. This entails 100 ride-along service calls, to make sure our technicians have hands-on experience.

Above all, our AskTheChimneySweep Youtube channel has over 160 videos. our videos are educational for our customers as well as our technicians. This 95 point check off includes anything from materials needed to re-pour a masonry crown, to being able to properly sweep and inspect a fireplace system.

Testing

Above all, the testing that the technicians must take in order to have a complete certification is 160 questions. These are all based on fireplaces, venting flues, and masonry. It includes everything from the construction materials to the building codes needed. Certified technicians are knowledgeable in wood & gas inserts, masonry repair, and draft control.

There are many certifications out there. There is the NFI (National Fire Institute), which offers a woodburning specialist, gas specialist, pellet specialist, and a hearth design specialist. F.I.R.E. certification, and a number of state certifications.
